Abstract

Tapir Conservation, the journal of the IUCN/SSC Tapir Specialist Group, was founded to provide a dedicated forum for sharing scientific insights into tapir natural history and conservation. For many years, we have proudly published contributions that have significantly advanced our global understanding of these fascinating animals.

To ensure Tapir Conservation remains at the cutting edge of digital publishing, we have recently transitioned to version 3 of the Open Journal System (OJS), developed by the Public Knowledge Project (https://pkp.sfu.ca/ojs/). This state-of-the-art publication management system will streamline our editorial workflow, facilitating the efficient submission, tracking, and management of manuscripts from both students and established professionals working with tapirs. OJS also reinforces our commitment to open access, broadening the reach of vital tapir research.

Following several months of rigorous testing, we are confident that the new platform will enhance the publishing experience for everyone involved. This period has also allowed us to solidify a dedicated team of editors and reviewers who are committed to thoroughly evaluating all submitted manuscripts. Over the next six months, we will continue to refine the platform and make adjustments to the author instructions, including implementing a double-blind review system to ensure the highest standards of quality and transparency throughout the submission, review, and publication process.

We eagerly anticipate your contributions, which will be instrumental in further expanding our collective knowledge of tapir conservation.
